That means the outside of the house of course. Lots of work to do inside yet but now at least you can't tell we build on.
The siders came the end of November and said it would take about 2 weeks to get it all done. Well they finished on January 24th so I guess they meant 2 months. But it was not their fault at all. The weather did not want to co-operate at all. Cold and snow, and of course with vinyl siding you can not really work in the cold as the vinyl will tear or break. But they got it done and following are a few pictures of the before and the after.
We started off with the building of our porch. Something I really wanted for when people first come into the house so they can take off their coats and shoes (yes here in Canada most people take off their shoes when they walk into a house).
Yes this is me holding up one of the walls for the porch. This picture was taken on October 19, 2013.
Still holding on to that wall. You never know it may blow away. I guess the builder is busy taking pictures or something.
The outside walls are up so now we have to start working on shaping the roof. Yes, I am the picture taker here.

Here the siders and Leo are discussing on what all needs to be done. We did not only have our house sided we also had our "old" windows cladded (our old wood window frames were covered with aluminium. No more painting). At this point we were told that it would take about 2 weeks to finish.

And here we are. The company we hired was called Jade Exteriors and it was a husband and wife team. It was amazing how well they worked together. Here they are working on the cladding of our dining room window. (Nov. 29, 2013)
The way they worked was that they would do the bottom of the house first and then the scaffolding would come up and they would do the top. Here you can also see our finished porch. We had not told the kids about the siding and wanted to surprise them a bit but because of the weather delay we knew we could not get the house done so Annisa and Dan promised they would finish our porch so we could at least show it off to the kids.
This picture was taken on Dec. 15, 2013 so you see they were behind schedule at this time already.
This is the front of our house showing the new part of the house in white.
Again a view of our porch which is located at the old back door.
This is the old and new portion of the house looking from our driveway.

Now we skip all the way to January 26, 2014 to show you the finished house.
The front of our house. Here you can really see the cladding around our dining room window.
And again a view from our driveway of the back of our house (or the north wall).
ALL DONE!!!
And now for a video showing you the finishing of the above top section of the north wall.
