Up to the first story

The next morning our carpenters came back to finish the basement and build the first story.   First they closed in the basement, put in the floor joists and get it all ready for the walls for the first story.

Pretty serious work nailing down these joists.

 

Who is the strong one here!  Yes they had to carry the sheets of plywood around to the other side and then lift if up to the first floor.

Half done.  Now the other half.

Now we can walk around on the first floor but we do have to be careful of the edges as it is a long way down in places.

Now that the floor is all done we can finish off the sides.

Just the last finishing pieces and the basement is totally closed in.  Floor and sides.
